I would like to host undergraduate interns from the second and third year in this summer break, late JULY or early AUGUST. ANYONE can apply for if having interesting in any research in botany, ecology, evolutionary biology and bioinformatics. The freshman is also welcome if you have good background in biology or computer sciences. Two kinds of interns you can apply.
1) Training course interns for FOUR weeks in the summer. I and my colleagues will give about TWELVE introduction lectures (45 to 60 mins for each) about Bioinformatics, Botanical Nomenclature, DNA Barcoding, Evolution, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Sequencing Technologies, Systematics, Taxonomy, and others. You are required to do HOMEWORK before/after the lectures. All the lectures will be presented in Chinese, but the slides are in English.
2) Research interns for FOUR to SIX weeks in the summer, and can continue in the winter break or returning to the University/College. According to personal interest, we will develop small research projects on genomic barcoding, or plastome evolution, RNA editing, or phylotranscriptomics, or parasitic plants during the staying at XTBG. I strongly recommend continuing to work on the projects after returning to the school.
In this year, I am planning to accept FIFTEEN interns for the first type and ONE or TWO interns for the second type. Meanwhile, I will provide travel scholarship (¥600 RMB Yuan) for FIVE interns. To apply for the internship and the scholarship, please send your resume, personal interest in biology or ecology, and research plan (if you have) to me by email (yuwenbin@xtbg.ac.cn). I also need a real recommendation/reference letter about you from a Professor or Lecture in your University/College sent by her/his email. If you have some CRAZY ideas want to work at XTBG, I will fully support if I can. The deadline will be on 10 JUNE, 2019.
